AU-EU Summit 17-18 February 2022: A Science Agenda

The AERAP Africa-Europe Science Collaboration Platform will organise side events at the AU-EU Summit on 14-18 February 2022. The purpose of the meeting will be to promote awareness of the contribution of collaborative research and development as a critical aspect of EU-Africa relations and collaborations, in particular in addressing global challenges together.

Dr Jacqueline Kyosiimire-Lugemwa is an Immunologist based in Uganda. She studies the Virologic and Immunologic correlates of protection against HIV disease progression in Uganda; Microbial translocation, Inflammation and T-cell activation in HIV ART-treated patients; and the effect of pre-existing immune status and endemic infections on Hepatitis B vaccine mediated immune responses among HIV negative adult Ugandans. In 2018, she got a Visiting Scholarship with Quantitative Biosciences Institute at the University of California San Francisco to learn new technologies in science and generate collaborations to enhance her Research career. Currently, she is working on a project to identify key Antiviral Therapeutic natural products against SARS COV2 using in-vitro studies at Uganda Virus Research Institute. This is supported by Government of Uganda with collaborative support from UCSF.
