Nneka Onyejepu is a Research Scientist and European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) Fellow with the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR), Lagos. She holds a doctorate degree in cell biology and genetics from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. She started a Clinical Trial Unit in her Institute this current year as a major outcome of her EDCTP Fellowship. The Unit offers training and mentorship support on clinical trial/research to research scientists. Her research interest is on clinical research, molecular transmission dynamics of infectious diseases (tuberculosis and HIV) and how the environment impacts their incidence. She has collaborated with both national and international organizations to provide insight into the genetic diversity of TB and the implications of such diversity in disease epidemiology particularly drug resistant TB. She wants her research experience and engagement with communities in health research to drive rigorous quality assured data management that will impact policy directions and development by government or communities
