Professor Intisar Soghayroun, professor of Archaeology, University of Khartoum 1991-2022, Sudan. Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research from 2019 to October 2021. My particular interest in my field include
theoretical archaeology, Medieval civilization , heritage management and Museums studies, Ancient technologies, Theatrical Archaeology, Ethno-archaeology and Gender Archaeology. A research fellow at Bergen University, Norway in 2008 and ST, John’s college / Cambridge University , UK, in 2000. Have held a number of administrative positions at the University of Khartoum, such as Dean, Faculty of Arts, University of Khartoum and Dean, Deanship for Scientific Research, University of Khartoum. A member of national, regional and international associations of Archaeologists. A consultant for a number of organisations such as Ethiopia-Sudan Power System Interconnection, Red Sea Power Plant, SMEC International PTY LTD and Consultancy Service for lake Nasser/Nubia Watershed. Member of advisory board of 5S organization and advisory board of MAEASaM, mapping Africa's endangered archaeological sites and monuments project. My expertise include establishing research institutions for higher Education and Heritage promotion taking into consideration global issues like inclusion, Cultural diversity, gender equity and social Cohesion, Cultural Resources Management (CRM), and Environmental Impact Assessment. Expert in modernizing governance, resources mobilisation and Allocation, and Scientific research in Higher Education.
Have presented papers in about 33 conferences worldwide and received several research grants. And published several articles in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
obtained my PhD in 2001 from University of Khartoum – Sudan, an MA in 1987 from the American University in Cairo (AUC), Egypt, and BA in 1982 from the University of Khartoum, Sudan.
